A globetrotting adventurer whose motorcycle was stolen in Whitehorse last month has his prized BMW Adventurer back, but there's not much left of the world-travelled bike.

"When I saw the bike I was happy and angry at the same time," says Bostjan Skrlj.

The motorcycle had been crudely stripped for parts.

"When you see it in the shape it is right now it makes you really angry because you know somebody who did this didn't know what he was doing," says Skrlj.

He guesses the culprit would have made "a couple hundred bucks" from the parts.

"It's hard to understand," he says.

The stolen motorcycle was the subject of a social media campaign in Whitehorse since it was stolen May 10.

Skrlj says he was tipped off last week by an anonymous caller who claimed to have found his bike. Skrlj contacted Whitehorse RCMP, who made the recovery Saturday.

Police are releasing few details, saying they must preserve the integrity of their ongoing investigation.

Skrlj says he plans to restore the bike and continue his journey around the world.
