The shopping list included 28 items — things such as milk, eggs, vegetables, bacon and Pilot biscuits.

In Gjoa Haven, the total bill would be $255. Pangnirtung had the second-most expensive groceries, followed by Arctic Bay.

Iqaluit had the cheapest set of groceries at $216.

Food in Nunavut's larger communities — Rankin Inlet, Arviat and Baker Lake — were just slightly more expensive than Iqaluit.

The food price survey was announced last spring as a pilot project.
