Starting July 14, First Air will no longer fly to Coral Harbour, Nunavut. 'This route is no longer economically viable,' says Bert van der Stege.

Calm Air to continue to serve community from Rankin Inlet

Starting July 14, First Air will no longer fly to Coral Harbour, Nunavut.

The airline has been operating three flights a week from Iqaluit to the hamlet, with a stop in Cape Dorset.

"This route is no longer economically viable," said Bert van der Stege, a vice-president at First Air, in a news release.

"Instead, a more efficient way for us is to codeshare on the existing services operated by Calm Air."

Calm Air will continue to serve Coral Harbour with flights connecting it to Rankin Inlet.

First Air is also adding a Wednesday flight between Iqaluit and Cape Dorset, increasing the number of flights between those communities to five times a week.
