Fire ban lifted in City of Yellowknife

The City of Yellowknife has lifted a fire ban implemented in late May citing recent rainfall.

The fire ban in Yellowknife has been lifted following light showers at the beginning of the week.

"Please follow safe open fire burning practices," the City of Yellowknife wrote in a tweet. "Permits are required within city limits."

Burning permits are available at City Hall from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Information is available on the City's website

The City had announced a fire ban effective May 25 due to extremely dry conditions.

Fire bans at Fred Henne and Yellowknife River Territorial Parks were announced May 27.

No word yet on whether those have been lifted.
