Police say speed and alcohol may have been factors in a crash last week on Yukon's Robert Campbell Highway.

Mavis Hurst, 40, was killed on Wednesday after her vehicle went off the road between Faro and Carmacks. The Yukon Coroner's office says Hurst lived just outside Faro, but was originally from Inuvik, N.W.T.

Police say Hurst's Ford F-150 truck was found off the roadside embankment, with extensive damage. The woman's body was found nearby.

The truck appears to have been travelling westbound, towards Carmacks, police said.

RCMP believe Hurst was thrown from the vehicle because of the speed she was travelling at. They also believe alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.

Yukon's Coroner Service and RCMP are still investigating.
