Entries for 22 Ingraham Trail cabin lots due today, draw set for Monday

Nearly two-dozen highly coveted cabin lots on the Ingraham Trail will be made available via public draw Monday night. Friday is the final day to enter the draw - the final time the territorial government will make spaces available until a review of land use practices is completed.

22 leases will be final ones issued until government review of land use practices completed

Today is the last day to enter a draw to lease one of 22 cabin lots on the N.W.T.'s Ingraham Trail.

The lots are highly coveted, as the Government of the Northwest Territories announced that it won't be awarding any more leases in the area until a review of territorial land use practices is completed. The review, announced in October, was expected to take up to two years.

The 22 lots up for grabs include:

  • 2 on Reid Lake,
  • 7 on Tibbitt Lake,
  • 5 on Peninsula Lake,
  • 1 on Pontoon Lake,
  • 6 on Prelude Lake,
  • and 1 on Madeline Lake.

People have until 4 p.m. Friday afternoon to enter the draw by submitting an entry form to Crowe Mackay LLP in Yellowknife. The forms are available online or can be picked up in person at Crowe Mackay.

A ballot draw from all the entries submitted before the deadline will take place on the evening of Monday, July 27, at Northern United Place in Yellowknife. The lucky 22 entries chosen will then participate in a second draw to determine the order in which they pick from the available lots.
