You'll enjoy great employment benefits and opportunities to grow your passion in fields like radio, television, web writing, technical production, journalism, social media, marketing, communications and more.

CBC is committed to reflecting a unified North in our stories. We have the honour of highlighting the diversity of the territories — and that includes our workforce as well. We encourage and welcome people of all backgrounds to apply for employment opportunities.

Sometimes, the hardest part of applying for a new job is getting your application ready. That's why we've compiled a few helpful tips to demystify the process.

Before you apply

CBC works to provide information and programming to a wide range of communities in eight Indigenous languages across the North. The best way to understand CBC North is through our programming.

Listening to your local radio shows and watching Northbeat and Igalaaq are great ways to familiarize yourself with CBC North.

Get to know the station you are applying to. What stories are being created? Who are the people behind the stories?

Get your cover letter and resume ready

1. Use your cover letter to really express what excites you about the opportunity.

What are your strengths and what are you hoping to learn in this role?

2. Do your homework.

Review the show or position that you're applying for.

3. If the opportunity asks for a demo, be sure to include this in your application.

4. Make your resume succinct and to the point.

Add bullet points of what you did at each point in your career.

5. Review your application thoroughly.

Spellcheck and make sure you haven't missed any details.

Prepare for your interview

1. Come prepared.

Be ready with examples of how you suit the position. What transferable skills do you have?

2. Do your research.

Demonstrate you have knowledge of that program and showcase your critical thinking skills.

3. Take your time answering questions.

Don't be shy to ask your interview panel to rephrase a question, or repeat if you need to hear the question again. Bring notes if it helps.
