CBC North annually uses the Make the Season Kind campaign to encourage the public to help us help food banks across the territories to support those less fortunate during the holidays.

Contributions of food, money and time allow food banks to better respond to those in need. Our ask is simple — please consider supporting your local food bank to help them support your community.

This year the need is stronger than ever to be charitable to those who have been less fortunate. Now is the perfect time to give back to your community. This holiday season, consider supporting northern food banks and help make this holiday season great for all.

CBC Yukon will officially kick off its annual sock drive on Dec. 7, urging Yukoners to help one another by dropping off new pairs of warm socks. The campaign runs until Dec. 15.

Donated items will be delivered to Blood Ties Four Directions, a Whitehorse-based non-profit that offers harm reduction and other services, to people who are vulnerable. The organization's outreach van provides snacks, hot drinks, conversations and warm clothes. It supports people who are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity, or who might not have access to laundry.

Donations can be dropped off outside CBC Yukon's station at Third Avenue and Elliott Street in Whitehorse from Dec. 7 to 15, during the office hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Any kind of socks are welcome, so long as they're new and clean.

Please consider supporting your local Yellowknife Food Banks this holiday season. It has been an eventful year for Yellowknife and many are struggling to get by this holiday season. Do your good deed for the year and help the less fortunate among us so we all can have a great holiday season.

Furthermore, stay tuned for the culmination of CBC N.W.T.'s Make the Season Kind work on Dec. 15.
