Active Voice Story Contest
Active Voice Story Contest YK, Oct 5th - Nov 15th
Submissions for the Active Voice Story Contest are open to all from the Whitehorse area from Oct. 4 to Nov. 15.
Do you have a story about your own family that you are proud to share? Do you want to tell the story of how you came to be living here in Whitehorse? Do you have a story about your connection to this land, or how you are working to protect and honour it? Tell us about it, either in a written story (maximum 500 words) or a short video (maximum three to five minutes) or a voice recording (maximum three to five minutes).
The contest is open to everyone, including students and youth.
The winning entries will be selected by award-winning author Ivan Coyote and a judge from CBC.
For inspiration please take a look at Tanya Talaga's documentary series The Knowing that you can see here.
Also, please take a listen to a sit down conversation between Dave White and Ivan Coyote about the Active Voice Story Contest on Airplay, here.
Those who win have a chance to add their own story to the conversation, get their work published online in our CBC North community feed, and share the stage with literary shining star Tanya Talaga during an event at Yukon Arts Centre.
Don't miss out on author and journalist Tanya Talaga, in conversation with writer and storyteller Ivan Coyote. This event is the second in an exciting creative partnership between Yukon University and Yukon Arts Centre, sponsored by CBC North.
