RCMP seize cocaine, gun in Hay River, N.W.T.
Two Hay River men face multiple charges
Two Hay River, N.W.T. men are facing charges after they were arrested during a traffic stop on Wednesday.
RCMP say they seized around 27 grams of suspected cocaine, bear spray, trafficking paraphernalia and a firearm with over 100 rounds of ammunition.
Police said they made the arrests after seeing a person, "surreptitiously carrying a firearm to a vehicle and concealing it within."
Police determined the gun was being transported illegally.
Tyrone Stephens, 21, and Skylar Constant, 27, both from Hay River, are each charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
The arrests follow an incident last week where two B.C. men were arrested in Hay River for multiple drug and firearms offences.
Both Stephens and Constant appeared before a Justice of the Peace and were kept in custody. They're expected to appear in court today.
