Andy Carvill elected new chief of Yukon's Carcross Tagish First Nation

Members of the Carcross Tagish First Nation have voted in a new chief. Andy Carvill took the win with 157 votes in Wednesday's election.

Members of the Carcross Tagish First Nation have voted in a new chief. Andy Carvill took the win with 157 votes in Wednesday's election.

He takes over from former chief Danny Cresswell, who came in second place with 70 votes.

Eileen Wally received 57 votes and Wesley Barrett received 23.

Of the 757 members eligible to vote, 41 per cent cast ballots in the election.

Carvill is the former grand chief of the Council of Yukon First Nations.
