Brendan Bell has stepped down as chair of the Northwest Territories Power Corporation as of March 1, citing personal reasons.
The one-time MLA has been in the position as chair since 2010 but has been on a leave of absence since November. In November he took over as acting CEO of Dominion Diamond Corporation when Robert Gannicott went on medical leave.
The medical treatment that prompted Gannicott's leave was expected to continue until the middle of last month.
Power corporation vice chairman David Tucker — a business owner in the North — has been named as the new chair. He had been filling in for Bell during his leave of absence.
