Arena fumes sicken players at Nunavik hockey tournament

Players at a bantam hockey tournament in Kangiqsualujjuaq, Que., were taken to the community's nursing station on Friday after being sickened by what is suspected to be fumes.

Players at a bantam hockey tournament in Kangiqsualujjuaq, Que., were taken to the community's nursing station on Friday after being sickened by what is suspected to be fumes.

Players began getting sick when they got onto the ice. They complained of nausea, coughing and vomiting.

All of the athletes recovered. The tournament was cancelled and the players have since flown home.

The Nunavik Health Board is expected to comment on the situation today.
