Five First Nations in Yukon and Northern B.C. have not published their financial statements online.

Under the First Nations Financial Transparency Act, the deadline to post financial information was midnight Tuesday.

The Daylu Dena Council, Dease River First Nation, Liard First Nation, Ross River Dena Council and the Taku River Tlingit have not complied.

Under the First Nations Financial Transparency Act, which came into effect last year, First Nations must submit their audited financial statements for the past fiscal year to the government, including salaries and expenses of chiefs and councillors.

Nationally, there are 581 First Nations that are required to post their financial information and about a third of them have not yet done so.

First Nations that have final agreements with the federal government do not have to post their statements publicly, which includes 11 Yukon First Nations.
