$25 million Lotto win wows Faro, Yukon

A group of Faro residents learned Friday their winning ticket was one of two drawn in Friday's Lotto Max.

The Yukon has a group of new millionaires.

Some Faro residents are set to share $25 million, after their winning ticket was one of two drawn in Friday's Lotto Max draw. The Faro group will split the $50 million prize with a winner in British Columbia.

"There's just an overall happy and excited vibe around here," says Heather Campbell, Faro's mayor. "You can feel it in the air," she says. "It's like it happened to all of us."

The winners have yet to be officially named, but there are reports they are a group of female employees from the Faro Mine Complex.

This is the largest Lotto win ever in the Yukon. Last year, Atlin resident Steve Murphy cashed in a Lotto Max ticket worth $16.6 million.
