230 bottles of vodka seized from boats in Fort Good Hope
181 bottles seized Saturday, 51 on Sunday
N.W.T. RCMP intercepted three illegal shipments of alcohol in the Sahtu region and a package containing marijuana at the Tuktoyaktuk airport over the weekend.
On Saturday, police seized 181 bottles of vodka and an improperly stored firearm from a boat coming into Fort Good Hope.
Less than 12 hours later police stopped another boat coming into the community with 51 bottles of alcohol.
On Sunday, RCMP seized 55 bottles of vodka, 27 cans of beer, 12 cans of hard iced tea and two bottle of wines from a boat headed into Tulita. The boat was also seized.
A man and a woman from Tulita have been charged under the N.W.T. Liquor Act.
Marijuana seized at Tuktoyaktuk airport
Police also seized a package containing 230 grams of marijuana at the airport in Tuktoyaktuk on Sunday. A man was arrested and police say charges of possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking are pending.
