2 elders injured in Fort Good Hope shooting

At least two elders in Fort Good Hope, N.W.T., were injured Monday morning in a shooting incident.

Yellowknife RCMP confirmed that one male elder suffered a gunshot wound, while a female elder was injured while trying to escape the house where the shooting took place.

At around 8:45 a.m., Fort Good Hope RCMP received a complaint of shots being fired inside a home in the hamlet, located about 800 kilometres northwest of Yellowknife near the Mackenzie River. Police arrested one man shortly after 9 a.m.

Three other people were in the house at the time of the incident, but police say they were not injured.

As of Monday afternoon, both elders were reported to be in good condition. They were sent to Yellowknife for further medical treatment.

RCMP did not release any names Monday, as officers continue to investigate the incident.
