About 30 young puffins were introduced to the ocean for the first time Friday morning after being rescued from the side of the road in Witless Bay.
The pufflings — the adorable name for young puffins — were discovered near the community on Thursday night.
The Witless Bay Puffin Patrol captured the birds in order to release them back into the wild.
Members of the group tagged and measured the birds at Lower Pond Beach before introducing them to the ocean for their first interaction with the water.
The group asked residents to dim any unnecessary lights on their property, because puffins are attracted to light.
