Cost of N.L. government's 'Way Forward': $34,256.29
More than one-third of the bill for one-day strategy session was for catering
The provincial government's one-day "Way Forward" strategy session earlier this month cost $34,256.29.
According to figures provided by the Newfoundland and Labrador government, the total venue cost — the event was held at The Rooms — was $19,785.22, equipment cost $8,982, and travel cost $5,489.07.
More than one-third of the total venue cost was spent on catering: $13,333.25 paid to Red Oak at the Rooms. The cost for The Rooms itself and staff was $6,451.97.
Under equipment, the government spent $500 on table and chair rental from Campbell Rent-Alls, $460 on signage from Bugden Signs, and $8,022 on audio/visual components from Eastern Audio.
The session, which was attended by about 150 people, was billed by the provincial government as the presentation of a "long-term approach to fostering success and innovation in Newfoundland and Labrador."
