Sgt. Richard Marshall with the Bay Roberts RCMP said the incident is believed to be a head-on collision.
All three were residents of Conception Bay North, according to the RCMP.
The serious accident has shut down traffic on the highway near Bay Roberts. Veterans Memorial is closed to traffic between L.T. Stick Drive to North River; the RCMP are asking the public to travel on the old Route 70 highway.
Conditions on the highway at the time were sunny and clear, according to Marshall.
An RCMP collision analyst has arrived on the scene, and the police investigation into the accident has begun.
