Not safe for snowmobilers: T'Railway closures in central N.L. to continue through winter

The Newfoundland government says the treacherous portions could be covered by snow and it is posting signs in key areas.

If you are out in the woods this winter, be careful where you go on your snowmobile.

The Newfoundland and Labrador government is keeping parts of the T'Railway Provincial Park closed because of washouts, but it is worried people won't see the dangerous areas if they are covered by snow.

A 180-kilometre section from Badger to Gander and another area near Port Blandford will remain closed all winter.

The Department of Environment and Climate Change said Wednesday that inspections are ongoing, and said other parts of the T'Railway may also be closed.

The washouts were caused by heavy rain over the Thanksgiving weekend.
