Searchers say the bodies of all three fishermen who failed to return home Tuesday have been recovered from Newfoundland's Placentia Bay.

The body of a 48-year-old man was located early Wednesday morning around 7:30 a.m. NT, while the second body was located at 10 a.m. near a debris field in the water.

The third man's body was recovered around 1 p.m.

"We can bring closure to the family, but we wish the outcome could have been different," said Maj. Rhonda Stevens with the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Halifax.

A series of tweets chronicling the search for missing fishermen off Placentia Bay.

JTF Atlantic tweeted that at least two of the men found were not wearing survival suits or personal flotation devices.

The three men were reported overdue Tuesday evening by a family member, Stevens said.

It's believed their speedboat capsized in strong winds somewhere between the Southern Harbour and Davis Cove, near Bar Haven.

The men left Southern Harbour on Sunday on a longliner, which they anchored at Davis Cove.

Around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, the three went by speedboat to haul crab pots and were expected back mid-afternoon.

Stevens said the weather was extremely poor in the area with high winds and low cloud cover.

Local fishing crews, two Cormorant helicopters, a Hercules aircraft, a local tanker equipped with radar, and members of the Canadian Coast Guard were involved in the search for the three men.

The RCMP will investigate the accident.
