This week's vintage video is from March 1994, when women were permitted to walk in the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in St. John's, as bona fide members of the Benevolent Irish Society.
In this week's edition of #ThrowbackThursday, our archival video is from March 1994.
Juanita Barry reported the story for Here & Now, of how women were permitted to walk in the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in St. John's, as members of the Benevolent Irish Society.
The club first formed in February 1806, and for the next 188 years, it was strictly a men-only fraternity.
