"All the leaves are brown," the opening lyrics of California Dreamin' conjure up, not only images of fall but, memories of legendary American band The Mamas and the Papas.
This week's vintage #ThrowbackThursday video is from 1985, when the band came to St. John's, during its second comeback tour.
Michelle Phillips had been replaced by daughter Mackenzie and the late Cass Elliott by Elaine "Spanky" McFarlane.
The CBC's Deborah Collins tells the story of a band rebuilding after being torn apart by drugs, infidelity and the death of Mama Cass.
Unfortunately, problems continued to plague the band and the 1985 version fell apart two years later.
