It was a busy weekend in Torbay, as the first iceberg of the season arrived in eastern Newfoundland just off the coastline near Tapper's Cove.

People flocked to the area over the weekend to take advantage of the site.

That area of the East Coast Trail was a busy spot when people heard about the iceberg close to shore.

But it wasn't just in Torbay — icebergs were being spotted in other areas of the Avalon Peninsula.

Some residents on the Northern Peninsula posted on social media last week that icebergs were spotted in their part of the province as well.

The Canadian Coast Guard says there's currently more than 100 icebergs off the province's coastlines, so it's just the beginning of iceberg season in Newfoundland and Labrador.

However, there aren't as many as 2014 expected to be seen.
