Most members of the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers' Association have voted to accept a pension deal that raises premiums and reduces benefits.
Most members of the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers' Association have voted to accept a pension deal that raises premiums and reduces benefits.
Members of the union voted to accept the amendments made in a tentative deal announced April 8.
Teachers voted 91 per cent in favour of acceptance, with more than 80 per cent of members casting ballots.
"Teachers have agreed to pay increased premiums and reduce future pension benefits in order to ensure the sustainability of the teachers' pension plan for this generation and future generations of teachers," NLTA president Jim Dinn said in a statement.
Earlier this month, Premier Paul Davis announced the union had accepted an agreement in principle.
