Marsh holds provincial record

At the rally, the team committee introduced the newest flag-bearer for the provincial team as target shooter Samantha Marsh of Mount Pearl.

This will be Marsh's second appearance at the Canada Games. In 2011, she finished sixth overall in the 10-metre rifle event.

Marsh currently holds the provincial record in women's air rifle.

She said she's looking forward to waving her province's flag in Prince George next month.

"It really means a lot to me," she said.

"That they choose me out of every athlete here to represent Newfoundland [and Labrador] and carry the flag for this amazing team that we have going up to the games now."

With regards to her duties as the flag-bearer, Marsh said it's fairly straight forward.

"I'm going to have to lead the whole team out, and hopefully not trip up on the way," she said.
