The Swinging Belles win Juno for Children's Album of the Year
Newfoundland and Labrador trio The Swinging Belles snagged the Juno for Children's Album of the Year at the pre-show in Calgary Saturday night.
The group, which calls itself a "swing band for kids," features primary school teachers Laura Winter and Erin Power and local guitarist Duane Andrews.

Only win for Newfoundland and Labrador
The Swinging Belles was the only group from Newfoundland and Labrador to a win a Juno this year.
Alan Doyle's album, So Let's Go, and Fortunate Ones' The Bliss, were both nominated for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year. However, Buffy Sainte-Marie won the category with her album, Power in the Blood.

Photographer Joel Upshall and art director/designer Duncan Major were nominated for Recording Package of the Year for their work on the Long Distance Runners' album, Elements.
The Swinging Belles are also the winners of the 2015 Canadian Folk Music Award for Children's Album of the Year.
