Fewer people support Muskrat Falls project this year, poll says

Support for the Muskrat Falls hydro electric project is down by nearly 10 percentage points, according to a new survey from Corporate Research Associates.

The survey conducted from May 9 to 30 reveals 54 per cent of people polled support the project. That number sat at 65 per cent this time last year. 

According to CRA, 35 per cent of people mostly or completely oppose the multi-billion dollar project.

Support higher among men

Eleven per cent of people either do not know or did not offer an opinion.

The poll noted greater support for project came from men and those with higher incomes.

The results are based on a telephone sample of 400 people in the province.

Overall results are accurate to within plus or minus 4.9 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times.
