St. John's writer Wanda Nolan is the winner of this year's Cuffer Prize, a literary contest recognizing short stories set in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Nolan took home the first prize of $2,000 for her short story, "Nancy Drew."
The top three entries were announced during a gala at the Geo Centre on Signal Hill in St. John's last night.
Joshua Goudie's "Satsuma and Cigarettes" took second place and a $1,000 award, while Janet Kelly took third place and $500 for her story, "Bliss."
Sponsored by The Telegram newspaper, this is the fifth edition of the Cuffer Prize.
Every year, Creative Book Publishing of St. John's puts out an anthology of the top selections from the previous year.
