St. John's snowclearing review delayed until after winter
The City of St. John's has delayed the release of its final report reviewing snow clearing.
The report is expected to be available to the public in March — four months later than when the city first said it would be released.
According to a news release from the city, consultants and city staff "require more time than originally estimated to complete the report."
The city was bombarded with complaints last year that it did a poor job of handling snowclearing during the brutal winter season.
After receiving the complaints, the city commissioned a consultant to review its strategy of how it deals with removing snow by reaching out to the public community groups to hear what they had to say.
The interim report was released in October, and since then an additional eight-person sidewalk clearing crew has been added to the winter maintenance crew.
The final report will include details of a long-term strategy for snowclearing.
