St. John's prison guard changes plea to guilty

A former prison guard accused of smuggling drugs into Her Majesty's Penitentiary in St. John’s has changed his plea to guilty on one charge.
Edward Taylor had pleaded not guilty to eight charges after police busted him at the penitentiary with marijuana, ecstasy and narcotics.
Tuesday, Taylor charged his plea to guilty on one count of breaching probation by possessing drugs.
He still faces five counts of trafficking drugs, one count of breach of trust by a public officer and one count of breaching an undertaking.
The remaining charges, along with sentencing submissions, are expected to be dealt with at a court date on Dec. 6.
