St. John's fan recounts meeting actor Christopher Lee

A man from Newfoundland was working at a London bookstore in the 1970s when he had an epic meeting with the famous actor that he never forgot.

Bryan Hennessey was 21 in 1970 and working in a London book store, when noticing the name on a book order earned him a meeting with one of his idols Christopher Lee.

Lee passed way Thursday at 93. The legendary actor's career spanned seven decades and 250 movies, including The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Star Wars, and Hennesey's favourite at the time, the Hammer Horror films in which Lee played Count Dracula.

Hennessey told the story of the epic meeting in an interview with CBC On The Go host Ted Blades.

"I was a fan of his before that, but after actually meeting him and being so nice I was always interested to see him pop up in whatever he might show up in, any movie he night turn up in," Hennessey said.

"I thought it was very kind and gracious of him to actually give an hour of his time to a nobody from Newfoundland."
