Everyone OK after small boat in distress rescued off Kellys Island
A small boat was rescued off Kellys Island by the Canadian Coast Guard Wednesday afternoon.
A 19-foot pleasure boat, carrying two people, was rescued off Kellys Island early Wednesday afternoon.
The Canadian Coast Guard sent an inshore rescue boat from Conception Bay South out to assist the boat, as well as a Cormorant helicopter.
The MV Flanders, the ferry that runs between Bell Island and Portugal Cove-St. Philip's, was also called on to help, and a Maersk vessel joined the rescue effort as well.
The distressed boat was found on shore on Kellys Island.
A spokesperson with the Coast Guard said everyone on board the boat is safe and there were no injuries.
