Sharks, bad weather during food fishery's opening weekend

Pictures of big cod and the odd shark were posted on social media as fishing boats darted out from harbours across Newfoundland and Labrador for the first weekend of the 2015 summer recreational cod fishery.
In the St. John's area, however, the water was rough and many fishermen chose to play it safe and stay on dry land.
"Stay at home, have a beer. It's too rough out there," Gerry Smith said Saturday.
For those who did get out, they say it didn't take long to fill their quota of five fish per person, 15 per boat.
The fishery will run for three weeks, then will pick back up on Sept. 19 for nine days.
