An alleged serial armed robber is facing more charges, according to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.

Sean Frampton, 26, has been charged with committing three armed robberies, while having his face masked.

The RNC laid the additional charges Friday afternoon.

Frampton is already in custody, after his arrest in on Nov. 29 following a robbery at CIBC in Churchill Square in St. John's.

Frampton was charged with four other convenience store robberies dating back to August 2014.

He is believed to be connected to robberies that happened at Hickey's Convenience Store on Pennywell Road on Nov. 27, Cornwall Superette on Hamilton Avenue on Nov. 4, Blackmarsh Superette on Blackmarsh Road on Sept. 4, and Hamilton Convenience on Hamilton Avenue on Aug. 31.

The charges against Frampton include armed robbery, possession of a weapon and disguise with intent.

CBC News had learned Frampton was the target of a drive-by shooting in the west end of St. John's September last year, and was shot multiple times.

At the time, neighbours on Boyle Street near the intersection with Anspach Street reported hearing multiple gunshots.

Frampton's injuries were not life threatening. The RNC has not confirmed Frampton was the one involved in the shooting.

No one has been arrested in relation to the shooting incident.

The latest offences bring Frampton's total number of charges to 33 for eight armed robberies.
