O'Regan ousted NDP incumbent Ryan Cleary in the St. John's South-Mount Pearl riding back in October, in a sweep that put the Liberals in government.
Touted throughout the campaign as a star candidate for the Liberals, O'Regan is a close friend of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who tweeted his support for the MP on Sunday evening.
My thoughts are with my friend & colleague @SeamusORegan tonight, and he has my full support.
