Liberal MHA Scott Reid has won the nomination for the district of St. George's-Humber defeating fellow MHA Stelman Flynn.

The Liberal Party confirmed Tuesday evening that Reid won the party's nomination for the west coast district. Reid currently represents St. George's-Stephenville East. Flynn represents Humber-East.

The two were forced to go up against one another for the nomination after political boundary changes created the new district.

The party hasn't released a breakdown of the numbers but speaking with CBC News Reid said he won by a comfortable margin.

The Nov. 30 election will see voters select representatives in 40 districts, down from the current 48.

Flynn is the second Liberal MHA to lose a nomination battle. Last month, Steve Porter won the nomination in the district of Conception Bay South defeating current Liberal MHA Rex Hillier.
