The 2015 Salmon Festival will be held from July 9 - 13, the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor said Wednesday.

In a written statement, Coun. Darren Finn said the town wanted to release the concert date so that people had enough time to make plans for the annual event in central Newfoundland.

Unlike last year, the July 11 concert date will not change, Finn said.

"We have just secured a major headliner so the date is definite," he said.

The town and long-time Salmon Festival concert promoter SRO Entertainment announced it would sever ties in December, cutting short a three-year contract.

At the time, the town said the push was on to find a new promoter for the 2015 concert.

Last summer's festival — headlined by pop group Maroon 5 — ran a deficit of $476,899.

Mayor Al Hawkins said it was important that this year's concert takes in money.

The news release Wednesday, made no mention of a new promoter.

The next step for the town is to finish the lineup and launch the sponsorship.
