RPM Challenge: Making music, because you can
Tips on what gear to use when making music for the competition
It's February, and for hundreds of people in Newfoundland and Labrador, that means it's Record Production Month, or RPM.
The RPM Challenge can not only make winter go faster, it can also have a big impact on an artist getting noticed.
In this video feature, Krisjan Leslie from Long & McQuade in St. John's offers some advice on what gear to use when making music for the competition.
Since 2008, the annual album-making competition has seen tremendous growth resulting in over 650 new, original albums produced in the province.
You have one month to write, rehearse and record 10 new songs or at least 30 minutes of new music, just because you can.
CBC is a proud media sponsor of this annual creative endeavour.
Even our own Zach Goudie has taken part, producing music under the rocker name Kid Brother
Ted Blades, with CBC's On The Go will host a live radio show at the RPM finish line at Rocket Bakery on March 1.
If you're thinking of taking the RPM plunge and you're looking for some inspiration and tips on how to record your own music, you can check out RPM Challenge Newfoundland and Labrador on Facebook and follow our coverage on our website and local programs.
