The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary has confirmed that the body of a man has been recovered from the water near Cape Spear.

The RNC tweeted around 1 p.m. that access was blocked at Blackhead Village Road as emergency crews investigated.

The area has since reopened to through traffic.
