RNC investigating 'serious' incident in St. John's; reports of stabbing or shooting
Police had Bond Street blocked off for several hours Tuesday night
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary closed part of a street in downtown St. John's on Tuesday night while officers investigated what a police spokesperson refers to as a "serious incident."
Investigators were called to the scene on Bond Street around 6:30 p.m. The road was opened some time overnight.
One young man was taken away in an ambulance in what appeared to be serious condition.
While police haven't confirmed what happened, area residents said it appeared to be either a stabbing or a shooting.
Some neighbours say they heard a gunshot, others say they did not. —@McCabeMegPolice tape lined the area on Bond Street, at Cathedral Street, Tuesday night, and there was what appeared to be a pool of blood on the sidewalk, as well as an object that looked like a handgun.
When asked if police believe a weapon was involved in the incident, Const. James Cadigan said he can't say at this point, as it is early in the ongoing investigation. There is no word on suspects.
The incident happened outside 129 Bond St., and neighbours told CBC News it is a home well known to police. While some said they heard gunshots not long after 6 p.m., others said they did not.

—@McCabeMegThree men who live at 129 Bond St. said it is a privately run emergency home, and they don't know the residents very well. For example, one man had been there for a month after spending a month at Her Majesty's Penitentiary.
They also said there are cameras outside the house, and other security cameras nearby.
There was a heavy police response on Bond Street, including forensic and canine units.
