RCMP confirm James Poker's remains found, died of hypothermia

The RCMP has confirmed the remains found on sea ice off Natuashish last week are that of James Poker.

Poker, 17, was last seen on Feb. 15.

The remains were found on Wednesday morning when a private plane spotted a body about 18 nautical miles — or roughly 33 kilometres — southeast of Davis Inlet.

A report from the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed to police Monday that Poker died from hypothermia.

Police said no signs of foul play were found during the examination.
