Officials with a company hoping to exploit a copper and gold deposit on Newfoundland's Baie Verte Peninsula are pleased to have cleared an important environmental hurdle.
Rambler Mining and Metals, which owns the Ming deposit, recently completed its environmental assessment process.
Project co-ordinator Peter Mercer said the Rambler operation will be good news for employment in the area.
"In full production, our site will employ about 158 people," said Mercer, adding the figures apply to three different sites involved in the operation.
As many as 250 people will be employed at peak construction. The building period itself is expected to stretch over 12 to 18 months.
