A 2011 home surveillance video that contains the audio of what turned out to be a fatal shooting on Portugal Cove Road in St. John's was played for a Supreme Court jury on Thursday.

The jury heard evidence in the second-degree murder trial of Philip Pynn and Lyndon Butler, who are accused of killing Nick Winsor during a robbery at the house of Tom "Billy" Power.

Home video surveillance footage from four different angles shows what happened before and after Winsor was killed.

In the video, a man, who the prosecution says is Pynn, knocks on the back door of Power's home. They are met by two other men, and all four then go into Power's garage.

The footage is dark and the sound is muffled, but a gunshot can be distinctly heard, followed by yelling inside the garage.

Three men run from the garage; the prosecution suggests Pynn and Butler are headed for a getaway car, as their friend Winsor lay dead inside.

Minutes later, two women are seen entering the garage where they discover Winsor, but run screaming from the scene.

Next, a person can be seen running from Power's house with two bags — something the defence asked the jurors to watch for.

The defence has stated Power is an unreliable witness, stating he has a criminal history and an alleged hatred for Pynn.

On Thursday, a woman who saw Power after the shooting testified Power ran out into Portugal Cove Road bleeding, but insisted the police not be called.

The trial is set to continue on Friday, with testimony from police officers.

CBC reporter Ariana Kelland tweeted live updates from the courtroom.
