Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Dwight Ball has the second highest premier approval rating in the country, according to a new Angus Reid survey.

The quarterly results show 60 per cent of people in the province approve of the work being done by Ball since he was sworn-in last December.

However, the research institute cautions similar results happened during "post-election honeymoon" periods in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall, who like Ball is dealing with the consequences of a collapse in oil prices, has the highest approval of the majority of people in his province, with 62 per cent.

Wall's rating is unchanged since the last quarter.

The survey is the result of interviews with 6,000 adult Canadians.
