People in Conception Bay South are upset about cars and trucks driving on a local trail.

The T'Railway was built across Newfoundland on the bed of the former railway, after it closed in the late 1980s.

The CBS portion of the T'Railway is a long stretch reserved for walking and cycling.

The town recently widened the path to accommodate a new sewer line.

Deputy mayor of CBS, John Hicks said some motorists are using the widened trail as a back road though the town.

"For whatever reason, the residents may not have insurance, the people driving may not have a drivers licence, or who knows, they might even be doing something illegal like being impaired," Hicks said.

Hicks said it's become a real concern for people who frequent the trail system.

"We've been having residents complain that we're having people, not only using this as a road for vehicles, but speeding. So it's a real reason for us."

The deputy mayor said the town may start using video surveillance to catch the culprits.
