Albert Lannon from Placentia picks up the cheque after winning $1.68 million in Lotto 649

A man from Placentia became the newest millionaire in Newfoundland and Labrador when he won last Saturday's Lotto 649 draw.

On Friday morning, Albert Lannon was presented with the top prize — a cheque for $1.68 million.

Lannon said he was surprised when he found out he won.

"I never felt anything like it before. Everybody should feel that," he said.

Lannon's win is the second lottery prize in Placentia this year.

Gord and Betty Collins won the January 25 Lotto Max draw and took home $30 million.
