Pregnant and ready to deliver? Gander patients to go to Grand Falls-Windsor for next 2 weeks

Obstetrical delivery services at the hospital in Gander will be temporarily moved to a health centre in Grand Falls-Windsor, Central Health said Tuesday.

Obstetrical delivery services at the hospital in Gander will be temporarily moved to the hospital in Grand Falls-Windsor, Central Health said Tuesday.

Effective 2 p.m. Wednesday, there will be no obstetrician available at the James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander.

Instead, patients will have to go to the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor.

However, if delivery is "imminent," pregnant woman who live closer to Gander can go to the emergency room at the hospital in Gander for an assessment.

Central Health said the temporarily diversion is expected to last two weeks.
