O'Quinn stays in custody on confinement charge

A western Newfoundland man facing numerous criminal charges, including forcible confinement, has agreed to remain in custody until his trial.

Matthew Francis O'Quinn, 36, was charged last month on charges that involve firearms, theft and domestic violence.

O'Quinn has had a notorious history with the law, including more than 40 convictions for a range of crimes that include a history of forcible confinement of women and assault.

A bail hearing had been scheduled for Monday for O'Quinn, but his legal aid lawyer said O'Quinn has agreed to remain in custody.

The case will be called again on Wednesday.
